Buttoned Up! Cleaned Up!

Yesterday (Friday) was a very busy day!  We finished the dormers and I put one coat of paint on them.  The bare wood you see in the pics will be covered with vinyl and metal.   The roof was finished as well.
YEAH!!!!  I will put one more coat of paint on - and then the metal/vinyl man can get to work. Also, there is piece of flashing at the base of the front of both dormers that will get nailed and glued down and a covering of shingles placed over it after the final paint coat goes on.

The rest of yesterday and today was spent cleaning up around the house for the potential of Hurricane Gustav.  I have buried, burned, and hauled garbage and scraps all day.  But it is ready!  I also got to do a flyover late this afternoon.  Below are a few general pics along with the flyover!

 

 

Almost Ready for Insulation and Sheetrock

Today ended another week of work on the Mitchell house.  Today we got in doors, got all the roof done that was possible with out the dormers being complete. The hold-up on the dormers is that the windows are still not in after 4 weeks.  Hopefully they will be in this week. 

This afternoon we did what is purely a grunge job - putting in deadwood.  It took a while, but we got it done.  Here are some pics.

Another couple of pics

This afternoon I had the chance to take a couple of pics of the back side of the roof.  Also, we got the A/C closet framed out and most of the gas fire place framed out.  I hung can lights and put up "z" metal on the north side.

Just a side note - I bought a new air compressor last week.  It was sitting there plugged in tonight and not running - all of the sudden it started making a weird noise and then tried to catch on fire! Smoke and all!   I will probably change brands - and I will not EVER leave on plugged up!

An Update

As you can see, the windows are in now!  Exterior doors will be in this week.  And, the siding is now finished on both dormers (it was too dark tonight when we finished to get a picture) except for the front because we are still waiting on the two windows to arrive.

This evening we got the entire back side of the roof shingled.  Again it was too dark to get a pic when we finished - but I will try to run by there during the day tomorrow and get a couple more pic.  So the roofing is halfway done - and if we can catch a break on the weather - we may get finished with the roof and dormers by Saturday evening.

Plumbing Inside

We have begun plumbing inside. Hopefully, most of that will be finished this week.  I am using the Pex system.  Here is a manifold with most of the plumbing runs already attached.

Framing Odd and Ends

We are now down to those framing odd and ends - like adding deadwood and just a bunch of little jobs that have to be wrapped up for bricking, vinyl, etc. to take place.  The dormers have to be completely finished before we put shingles on that side of the roof.  This will keep us from walking all over the shingles and getting paint on them.

Framing is About to Be HISTORY!!!

We have had a lot of rain during the week this week - and it has slowed us up just a bit.  Today, we made a great showing!  The weather was SUNNY - HOT - and well.... HOT!  We put in right at 12 hours.

We built soffits this morning while Robert was putting together dormers.  We also wrapped the house in house wrap - makes it look a lot better.  Here are a few pics.
