This past week has been, for all intents and purposes, perfect! I have three weeks of vacation, but I usually end up not having time to take it all! And, I hate being gone on Sunday, so, I took this week - Monday through today, as vacation! For the most part, I have been at home! I did spend the day on Thursday mowing my Mom and Dad's yard in Columbus. Otherwise, I have been "around here!"
There is great value in rest! Rest is not necessarily inactivity, just restful, refreshing activity! That is what I have had all week! I have been involved in home projects - like washing / bleaching the plank walled porches on the house. I have planted flowers - worked on some stuff in the shop - I guess what we call "piddled" a bit!
The week has been so refreshing! I've read, I've prayed, I've had the most amazing answer to prayer one could ever have - literally while praying for the need! I have been alone - and I have hung out with people!
Today I eased back into some work - the 5k run at the church - a visit to a dear lady in the hospital this afternoon - did I mention it has been a great week!
Andrea and I have been able to relax in the evenings - spend some time together uninterrupted!
The best way I know how to describe this week is that I slowed down - and enjoyed life! Funny how that invigorates you for the challenges ahead! Sitting on the back porch has been one of my highlights this week. I'm sitting there as I type this blog post - enjoying the birds - feeling the cool breeze - and anticipating a grand day of worship tomorrow!
Direction, wisdom, plans, promises - all have been given and received this week during a week of Sabbath!
Thank the Lord for His provision, His blessing, His strength that renews our soul!
