A transformed life, transformed into the character and nature of Christ, is THE GOLD STANDARD for observing genuine salvation in a person's life. Life transformation is the result and the ongoing product of salvation!
Which brings me to a familiar question I have heard asked - and I have asked myself. "How do you want to be remembered when you die?" It sounds like a good question - and I won't take any shots at the question. Asking yourself that question is better than asking no question. Most people are very aware from attending many funerals that people are almost always characterized in some way at their funeral and beyond as people remember them.
But, I was reminded today that a better question exists. Instead of asking yourself how you want to be remembered when you die, ask this - "How will I actually be remembered?" It is a significantly different question! This second question is also one where we already suspect we know the answer! I'm not saying it is an automatically bad answer! We just know already if we are really walking in a transformed relationship with Christ.
Every child of God has within them the Spirit of God - therefore we all have the capacity for a truly transformed and empowered life in Christ. We all need to live every moment of our lives in view of obeying God's plans and purposes. We all have the opportunity to be remembered as a person who lived, breathed, talked, and acted in the nature and character of Jesus Christ!
How do you want to be remembered? How will you be remembered? Both questions are worth pondering - but the last one is based on how we actually live! We must let God have His way in our lives to transform us into His likeness. This path produces great adventure! We will be remembered!
