Life is filled with many simple pleasures - easily overlooked - and sometimes taken for granted!
Melting ice! When I was in ICU following heart surgery, just after getting the breathing tube out - the feel and refreshment of a spoon of crushed ice was delightful beyond words!
A big old smile! Today in Leakesville, I ran into people I know from the Mississippi Baptist Convention working with Disaster Relief! Those big, reassuring smiles were sure helpful to the people impacted by the tornado!
A kind deed! Five of us took hauled to trailers of clothes to Leakesville! It was exciting to see their anticipation of people who would be receiving them later on today!
A simple surprise! Five of us ate lunch in Lucedale when we returned from Leakesville! Bo bought lunch! Thoughtful! Great fellowship!
A marigold! Guess it sounds weird, but I love marigolds! They are stunningly beautiful! I once had a terrace in Kentucky completely covered in marigolds. It was one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen.
The twilight sky! Sitting on my back porch right now - looking through the trees as they are backlit by a twilight sky!
Familiar voices! Love to hear my Dad - love to hear my Mom!
Fine aromas! Coffe brewing - the smell of a fire in the fireplace - my wife's "Red" perfume - popcorn - steaks on the grill - honeysuckle - just to name a few!
The sound of Salvation! shouting - crying - praising - I will never forget a young girl in Kentucky who had major health problems handing me a sheet of notebook paper one Sunday morning. She told me to read it before church! It began in the handwriting of a child - "Bro. Tommy - I have taken Jesus as my Savior!" I still tear up thinking about her and how powerful her testimony to the church was!
There are so many simple, yet profound pleasures in life! It is a shame that we are too consumed to take the time to enjoy most of them!
