Incarnation! That is not the word that most people get up thinking about every morning! But I dreamed about it most of last night! Incarnational! It is how Jesus lived among us - incarnationally! He was God in flesh - dwelling among people! That "dwelling" word is very important. He did not just visit us - He engaged us - wherever people were living and wherever they were IN their lives!
Incarnational living is His method for our living in this world! We are to dwell among the people - living out the Gospel incarnationally! This amounts to REAL TIME impacting that world - people - with the person of Christ - living out His redemptive purpose wherever people are living.
Incarnational living means doing what Christ did - touching the sick - interacting with people who live sinfully (Jesus was known as the friend of sinners) in order to bring them to light - taking the time to learn how the people among whom we are dwelling can best see the Gospel! What will be GOOD NEWS to them? This is not changing the Gospel - but learning where people will most likely be able to see it!
When we learn to live incarnational lives among the people - we will have learned how to live the Gospel before them - with them! And one more thing - folks who need Christ will be looked upon less as "those people!" We will learn to look at them as "us!" For we were once in their position - in need of the Gospel! We will learn to love them as we love ourselves - and genuine love is a great catalyst for the Gospel and incarnational living!
What person, persons, or group of persons has God led you to? How are you living incarnationally?
